Are you a silent problem solver?

While interviewing Second in Commands (2iCs) for my upcoming book, many leaders shared about their silent problem-solving skills. Well, they didn’t call it ‘silent problem solving’ – I’m naming it that. 🙂

When I asked 2iCs what skills they used most often, many shared that they leverage relationships that they have built to get things done, move the needle, and unstick the stuck.  As a 2iC, we often don’t think twice about silent problem-solving — it is just one of our MANY tools that we use to achieve phenomenal results.Of course, as a silent problem solver, there is no glory to share. That’s why it is silent. Some of the silence is due to being too busy to take the time to be vocal about the problem solved; other reasons include confidentiality or simply that it isn’t anyone’s beeswax! Second in Commands are focused on moving closer to the big goal.

As a 2iC, we often don’t think twice about silent problem-solving – it is just one of our MANY tools that we use to achieve phenomenal results.

The next time you encounter a problem, consider whether this is an opportunity to exercise your silent problem-solving skills to save time, be kind, or some other valuable benefit.
